Every Fortela collection takes inspiration from fashion of the 1950s and ’60s – some 6,500 garments in all. Our aim is to bring back what once was, without changing it, and get as close as we can to the wearability of yesteryear’s clothing, while adding a touch of the Italian magic that the Fortela brand and Alessandro Squarzi are famous for. We research each garment, seeking out fabrics of the past, while developing and designing alternatives that provide those who wear them with the same sensations. Our attention to every single detail, no matter how small, is what enriches each collection, because it’s the details that make each garment unique, one of a kind – from buttons to buttonholes and lining. As Alessandro Squarzi says, when discussing the Fortela collection, “I’m a maniac when it comes to perfection, even if there’s really no such thing as perfection. Still, it’s something I pursue in each and every one of my collections.” Indeed, clothes by Fortela have their own distinctive DNA for impeccable wearability, superior, long-lasting quality and meticulous attention to detail.
