JAZZ KISSA book
DESCRIPTION
A photographic journey into Japan's legendary jazz kissa: intimate cafes where music is a cult, listening is a ritual, and aesthetics are part of the sound.
The fruit of fifteen years of work by photographer and cultural historian Katsumasa Kusunose, the volume recounts the spaces, people, and spirit that keep this unique tradition alive.
With an introduction by Devon Turnbull (founder of Ojas) on the link between Jazz Kissa's philosophy and the global resurgence of high-fidelity audio, the book also explores the design of hi-fi systems: from the historic Altec A7 to the iconic JBL and handcrafted amplification, showing how the physicality of the machines influences the emotion of listening.
Printed on Japanese paper inspired by the texture of the Altec A7 and wrapped in a traditional OBI band, Jazz Kissa is both a cultural document and an art object, dedicated to those who listen attentively and experience music as a total experience.
